Hey Christian!
I'm a Montreal bass player, writing you just to say that I Do Like the music you compose and play. That's fabulous!
Let me know if you need a bass player for one of your projects.
Thank you!

M. Pamerleau,

Merci.

Review of "Everyday Learning"

"Everyday Learning" is both modern, with an obvious knowledge of the best known small fusion ensembles and sounds, and classic in its respect for melodic line and composition. Vue D'ensemble's newest release is timeless, feeling as it could have been released with the standards of several decades.

Having lived with this CD for two months before writing, there are several aspects that obviously need to be mentioned. Transporting the recorded music to a club or small stage venue is very believable. This feels like music that should and wants to be played live for an audience, rather than notes simply placed on a page. I haven't heard this quartet (guitar, bass, keyboards and percussion) live, but I suspect they would put on a wonderful performance.

Lending a strong sense of connection to the standards and the long time groups that have brought them to light is the heavy use of the Fender Rhodes, which matches perfectly to the texture and melodies within.

And the compositions are the key to the success of this recording. While this group may just be coming into wider view in the States, listening to the CD will make you feel right at home, bringing in to mind our best known groups. (To this listener, numerous spots on the recording are reminiscent of some Metheny selections.) Pamerleau's compositions are quite strong, and should be considered excellent material for other jazz performers.

Merci
